First Winners of F1 Constructors Championship
1958 was a good year for the Vanwall team. With Stirling Moss winning in Holland Portugal and Morroco and Tony Brooks winning in Belgium Germany in Italy.
With 1958 being the first year of the Formula 1 constructors championship,Vanwall walked away with it. Vanwall’s celebrations were marred however by the death of their third driver Stuart Lewis-Evans in an accident in the last race in Morroco.
1958 was the last year the team would complete a full season.
The Drivers title went to Mike Hawthorn in 1958 driving a Ferrari F1. Despite him only winning one race, he had 5 second places. Moss had to make do with the runners up spot again.
