This is a video of Eddie Irvine in qualifying for the 2002 Italian Grand Prix at Monza. He’s driving the Jaguar R3 powered by a Ford Cosworth engine.

This was Eddie’s final year as a Grand Prix driver and the third place in Monza proved to be his last visit to the podium.

The lack of performance in the Jaguar team without much sign of any great improvement bothered Eddie and this led to friction within the team and ultimately Eddie wasn’t kept on for the 2003 season.

Eddie had a fairly good run in Formula 1 between 1993 and 2002. His 4 race wins coming in the 1999 season alone. In that year he failed to take advantage of Michael Schumacher’s absence and win the drivers title, instead it went to Mika Hakinnen.
