Publicity Stunt for the 2006 Brazilian Grand Prix
Red Bull Racing took their car out for a run on public roads in Sao Paulo at 5.30am as publicity for the 2006 Interlagos Brazilian Grand Prix. It was a pretty wet morning, so he wasn’t able to open up too much. Look’s like they had the roads closed off, including a stretch of motorway.
I’d say it was pretty slippery too, see how he has to fight to keep it in a straight line. Although he’s not able to open up to full throttle the sound is great from the old V8 Ferrari engine.
Red Bull finished the 2006 season in 7th place with just 16 points and although promising much over the last few seasons they still have a lot to prove. But maybe with Sebastian Vettel on board in 2009 they can improve their fortunes.
The car was driven by Red Bull’s Test Driver Michael Ammermüller. Ammermüller was Red Bull’s third choice driver at the end of the 2006 season after Christian Klein was dropped in favour of Richard Doornbos. He was signed as Red Bull’s Test Driver for the 2007 F1 season while he competed in GP2. However his season was disrupted by injury prior to the Monaco Prix.
